Digboi is  an oil town in Upper Assam with a rich Colonial history, where crude oil was first discovered in the early 18th century, making it one of the birthplaces of the industrial revolution. And apart from having the oldest running oil well in the world, the town has beautiful looking heritage bungalows, a functioning club with distinguished members, eighteen holes golf course and a war memorial dedicated to the Allied soldiers of World War 2.
