Capturing memories.
These photographs were taken on a stretch of about half a mile of a road over a period of one year. A small hamlet in the state of Assam in the north eastern part of India, this is my maternal village where I used to spend my vacations during school days with my siblings. Many things changed over the years, including the death of both my grand parents within a span of six months in the last one year. An old abandoned airstrip at a distance of three miles is being rebuilt and there are talks about this road being upgraded to a national highway. If that happens, things are going to change drastically. I am visiting this place more often now trying to document the life and the landscape, I don’t really know why, maybe to preserve my childhood memories. This series is a part of my bigger personal…
