We came across the above documentary in YouTube. Though it dates back to 1970, the documentary is still very interesting and provides an insight into the incredible lifestyle of the Naga headhunters. Back in the days, these tribes were very much savage and practiced headhunting as a part of their animistic culture. The video was filmed by noted anthropologist Christopher von Fuer-Haimendorf and is part of a large archive of footage shot by Haimendorf in the Himalayas during his years of extensive fieldwork.
* The first week of April is when the Konyak Tribe of Nagaland have their annual Aoling Festival. This year, we have planned a tour for this event as it showcases the fascinating culture of one of India’s most remotely living tribe.
